Emergency Response – Current Efforts

Email Page

Direct Relief’s response efforts are fast, involve local partners, and are coordinated with other international organizations and governmental authorities to ensure the most efficient use of resources. In recent years, there have been several reports showing how the introduction of nonessential or unneeded items can actually impede relief efforts by clogging in-country logistics and distribution channels. Direct Relief sends its partners only the aid they specifically request. Direct Relief is expanding its emergency preparedness initiatives, including its Hurricane Preparedness Program, which began in 2007 and prepositions medical material aid in areas vulnerable to hurricanes.
