A 53-foot truck filled to capacity with critically-needed medicines just left the Direct Relief warehouse and is on its way to partners in Fiji, where Cyclone Daphne has severely impacted the island nation.

These medicines will be distributed to 8 hospitals, 40 health centers, and 16 nursing stations – all of which are providing medical care to people affected by the storm.

This massive shipment of medical resources came together in a matter of days, thanks to outstanding operations and program teams. In all, there were 27 pallets weighing 17, 415 pounds with nearly $5.2 million worth of medicines from companies.

Air Pacific, the national airline of Fiji, generously donated air cargo space in order to get these medicines to Fiji as soon as possible, and FedEx donated the ground freight transportation to ensure that it gets to LAX this evening.
