Women and Health Alliance (WAHA) International in Kenya received an emergency shipment of medicines and medical supplies from Direct Relief last week.
The pharmaceuticals and medical supplies were specifically requested to support maternal and child health care at Dadaab Hospital, where the famine and humanitarian health crisis continues to affect residents and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP). The 10,000-pound shipment included items such as gloves, thermometers, IV solutions, oral rehydration solution, hospital beds, and autoclaves, worth over $192,000 (wholesale).
This shipment follows a $25,000 emergency cash grant to WAHA International enabling an immediate supply of needed medical supplies and equipment in October 2011.
