Join us on February 22nd at the Bacara Resort & Spa for the Santa Barbara Vintners’ Foundation Santa Barbara Wine Auction to benefit Direct Relief.
If you can’t attend in person, we encourage you to consider participating by placing an absentee bid on one (or more!) of the carefully crafted, priceless experiences in food, wine, travel and leisure that are being auctioned to benefit people in need in the U.S. and around the world.
However you choose to participate, your generosity helps make it possible for Direct Relief to mobilize and provide essential medical resources needed to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty and emergency situations.
Established in 2000, the vision of the Santa Barbara Wine Auction is to help ensure that low-income and uninsured people in the U.S. and across the world have access to life-saving medical aid. Since its establishment, the Santa Barbara Vintners’ Foundation (SBVF) has worked with Direct Relief to raise over $2 million in funds and enable Direct Relief to launch and implement innovative medical assistance initiatives.
With 100 percent of the event proceeds donated to Direct Relief, past auctions have equipped local Medical Reserve Corps volunteers with emergency preparedness supplies, laid the groundwork for what is now the largest charitable medicines program for vulnerable people in the United States, Direct Relief USA, and supported the distribution of life-saving pneumonia medication to children.
At the 2012 event, Direct Relief and the SBVF asked Wine Auction attendees to join the fight against childhood pneumonia, which enabled Direct Relief to begin to fulfill its commitment to help 50,000 children with pneumonia receive the care they need. Childhood pneumonia is the leading cause of death in children under age five, killing more kids than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined; taking the life of one child every 20 seconds.
This year, the event is at the exclusive Bacara Resort & Spa and will feature Santa Barbara’s most celebrated vintners’ private reserve wine tasting, a celebrity guest chef, and silent and live auctions. It will not only be an night to remember, but it will also be an evening that makes a difference.
The partnership between Direct Relief and the Santa Barbara Vintners’ Foundation over the past fourteen years has resulted in thousands of people receiving critical medicines and supplies that they would not otherwise receive—we invite you to join us.
