FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) committed today a chartered flight to deliver critical medical aid to Nepal in the wake of last week’s devastating earthquake. Scheduled to depart early next week, the airlift will deliver emergency supplies from Direct Relief, Heart to Heart International, and Water Missions International.

“FedEx is committed to responding to the aftermath of the earthquake in Nepal,” said Frederick W. Smith, chairman and CEO of FedEx Corp. “Working together with international relief organizations, we are utilizing our global transportation network to assist in this massive recovery effort.”

The life-saving resources FedEx will transport to Nepal include the following:

• On behalf of Direct Relief and at the request of Nepal’s Ministry of Health and local health facilities, FedEx will transport large volumes of requested medical supplies, comprised mainly of IV solutions and generic medications donated by Teva, Mylan, Actavis, and other generic producers.
• On behalf of Heart to Heart International, FedEx will deliver medical materials and equipment and sponsor the organization’s mobile medical clinic.
• On behalf of Water Missions International, FedEx will deliver 12 large Living Water Treatment Systems, 31 potable water chlorinators and 12 large water tanks . Combined, these systems will provide fresh water for up to 370,000 people per day.

In addition to the airlift, FedEx announced it would provide cash donations to the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.
