Solar Power in the Bahamas, Ongoing Relief for Ukraine

Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 380 shipments of requested medical aid to 37 U.S. states and territories and nine countries worldwide.

The shipments contained 4 million defined daily doses of medication, including insulin, personal care products, prenatal vitamins, cancer medications and more.

Resilient power in the bahamas

Direct Relief recently supported the installation of solar-powered panels and batteries at McLean’s Town Clinic to bolster resilient power efforts on the island of Grand Bahama.

The McLean’s Town Clinic will be the first public healthcare facility in the Bahamas with resilient energy.

The project is part of Direct Relief’s larger long-term recovery plan after Hurricane Dorian, which includes building, rebuilding, and restoring solar-powered Bahamian clinics and medical centers.

Material support for ukraine

This week, Direct Relief is preparing multiple shipments of requested emergency medical aid for delivery to Ukraine over the coming days from Direct Relief’s warehouse in Santa Barbara, California.

Included in this week’s shipments being prepared for delivery were 39 pallets worth of cardiovascular medications, oncology drugs, glaucoma medication, Direct Relief field medic packs, vitamins, and more.

A second shipment, containing 19 pallets worth of medical supplies, is also being prepared. This shipment contained cardiovascular medications, oncology drugs, PPE, anti-inflammatories, gastrointestinal medicines, vitamins and more.

Since Feb. 24, Direct Relief has provided medical aid to Ukraine weighing more than 2.2 million pounds, or 1,100 tons, with more on the way.

Since Jan. 1, 2022, Direct Relief has delivered 19.6K shipments to 2,291 healthcare providers in 53 U.S. states and territories and 92 countries.

These shipments contained 553 million defined daily doses of medication valued at $1.8 billion (wholesale), totaling 11.1 million lbs.
