U.S. Storms
This past week, a series of severe storm systems moved over the United States, including Direct Relief’s home state of California. Northern California communities were particularly impacted, with power outages, infrastructure damage, and even several levee breaches.
Direct Relief immediately offered its medical inventory to health facilities across California and other states experiencing weather-related impacts. On Wednesday, Direct Relief staff were on hand in Montecito, California, to assist with sandbag distribution for residents concerned with flooding.
Multiple shipments departed Direct Relief’s warehouse on Thursday, including the shipment of 400 personal care kits for Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless in Northern California. The kits contain items like soap, shampoo, and dental hygiene supplies.
