Direct Relief has delivered 852 shipments of requested medical aid to 51 U.S. states and territories and 20 countries worldwide over the past seven days.

The shipments contained 15 million defined daily doses of medication and supplies, including vitamins, surgical supplies, personal protective equipment, and more.

Oregon Wildfire Response

On Tuesday, the Darlene 3 wildfire prompted the evacuation of over 1,100 homes in La Pine, Oregon. Wind has driven the fire to expand to nearly 4,000 acres, and it was 30% contained as of Thursday morning, according to Central Oregon Fire Information. Direct Relief has extended its support to partner health facilities in the area, including La Pine Community Health Center and Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades, both located within 50 miles of the fire.

The organization will continue to respond to needs as requested.

Ukraine Relief

Last week, a local NGO, Ukrainian Soul, received multiple shipments of requested medications and medical supplies for distribution to healthcare providers and first responders on the ground in Ukraine. The donations included thermometers, thyroid medications, prenatal vitamins, and more.

Direct Relief has deployed more than 2,480 tons of medical aid, 341.6 million defined daily doses, $42 million in financial assistance, and $1.3 billion in material aid assistance to Ukraine since the war broke out.

A recent grant recipient of Direct Relief’s Power for Health Initiative, Alliance Medical Center, located in Healdsburg, California, was recently featured by AP News. For the past month of June, the health center has been operating with a solar and battery storage system donated by Direct Relief. Direct Relief’s Power for Health Initiative seeks to bring clean, renewable backup power to community health centers and free clinics to ensure they can deliver critical healthcare services during power outages.
