The DRC faced its worst-ever outbreak of Ebola in 2019, second only to the 2014-2016 epidemic that claimed more than 11,000 lives across West Africa.
The outbreak began in August 2018 around Beni and Mangina in eastern North Kivu province and is far from over.
This is the first outbreak of Ebola to occur in an active conflict zone.
